Rise and Shine with Sankey's

We know the highlight of anyone’s evening would be heading off for a few drinks and a Po’Boy up at the Seafood Kitchen & Bar, or oysters washed down by a glass of Squerryes’ sparkling wine at the Old Fishmarket, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start your day off right with seafood either.

In fact, not only do we think it makes for a delicious breakfast, but there are also actually several proven benefits to kicking things off with a hearty serving offish. To start with, research shows that a morning meal that’s rich in lean protein can reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular disease!

It’s not groundbreaking for us to mention the abundance of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to be found within them though, considering we covered most of that in our ‘Boost Your Brain by Eating Fish’ blog - give it a read if you haven’t. Nevertheless, hitting most of your daily target can be a real confidence booster if you’re on the path to a healthy lifestyle; why pop several fish oil pills when you can get the real thing anyway?

Furthermore, at this time of the year, it’s especially a great way to top up your intake of Vitamin D with daylight hours getting even shorter and dropping temperatures keeping us indoors.

For us the health benefits are just a bonus though because we love cooking with seafood from dawn until dusk.

Feeling a bit fancy? Grab some salmon, a bit of cream cheese, and throw the two together in a bagel that’ll have you thinking you’ve been whisked away to New York City. Alternatively, serve some alongside eggs cooked to your liking in order to impress the nearest and dearest. Scrambled, poached, or fried, they’re just the support act for the delicate pink fish we all love.

If something rustic is more up your street though, you’ll want to go smoky with kippers or mackerel always going down a treat when putting a fishy spin on a traditional breakfast.

It’s safe to say the possibilities are endless when you love seafood as much as we do, and after savouring something delicious we’re sure you’ll be itching to head straight to our fishmongers for more. We’re open from 9am Tuesday to Saturday after all!
